Learn 4 Key Steps to Attracting and Retaining Talent at Our Oct. 11 Event

Whether they know it or not, every employer has a reputation.

Your employer brand is not specifically about your products or services. It’s about why people would want to work for your organization. Or, in the worst case, why they would not.

Not only is your employer brand critical to your ability to recruit new talent — it’s also key to retaining and engaging with your existing workforce. Companies with strong employer brands perform better in both regards. That’s why our next session of the Talent Solutions Series is designed to help Strengthen Your Employer Brand.

At this fast-paced session 3-5 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 11 at Grand Valley State University’s Seidman Center in Grand Rapids, we’re going to walk through a four-part workshop designed to help you:

  1. Audit your employer brand
  2. Share your employee value proposition through storytelling
  3. Attract candidates aligned to your brand
  4. Integrate your brand throughout the employee lifecycle

Section 1: Audit Your Employer Brand

Led by Kimberly Bauer, DISHER talent marketing specialist

During this workshop, we will help you audit your brand in four categories. This process will give you a better understanding of your strengths and weaknesses. From there, Kimberly will help you start a plan for improvement.

Section 2: Share your Employee Value Proposition Through Storytelling

Led by Nic Dampier, director of marketing for Frontline Training Solutions

In this presentation we will discuss the value of sharing your Employee Value Proposition through purposeful storytelling to build your employer brand and attract the right talent for your organization. You will walk away with tools and practical applications to effectively share your employer brand story using your most valuable asset: your employees.

Section 3: Attracting Candidates Aligned to Your Brand

Led by Anneka Wilson, talent strategy lead at EG Workforce Solutions

Is your employer brand tailored to who you want to attract? You’ll learn how to define your target candidates to evaluate if your value proposition is set to attract the right talent, as well as how to market it to them effectively.

Section 4: Integrate Your Brand throughout the Employee Lifecycle

Led by Amy Kraal, HR executive and owner of HR Solutions Group

Beyond recruiting and advertising, we will look at ways to integrate your unique employer brand throughout employee lifecycle. This has a huge influence on the extent to which employees feel passionate about their jobs, are committed to the organization, and put discretionary effort into their work.

Become part of the Talent Solutions Series Movement

This event is part of a retooling of our popular Talent Solutions Series, designed to equip employers with the new tools and new tactics they need to address a generational shift in worker attitudes, demographic challenges, declining labor force participation, and the rise of remote work, automation and artificial intelligence.

Our first session this fall, Expand Your Talent Pipeline, featured insights and connections through a partner fair with more than 30 education providers, community organizations and vetted staffing firms. Read a summary here.

Registration also is open for the final session this year: Enhance Onboarding & Career Pathways: 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8 at The Pinnacle Center in Hudsonville.
